This entry-level series will cover the fundamentals of a handstand, including handstand-related flexibility, basic body positioning, more refined alignment techniques, and strength building tools to practice on your handstand journey.


The series consists of three standalone classes--each focused on a different entry to handstand. Although each class will be different, each will include movement to prime the body for bearing weight on the hands, basics for bailing out, focused drills to break down the handstand into manageable pieces for a beginner, a vinyasa flow to integrate the pieces and practice the handstand, as well as time for relaxation. There will be lots of opportunities to invert each class!

Class #1: Dive In!

Saturday, June 11, 2022, 11:30 am - 1 pm

This class will focus on entering a handstand from a split-leg position. While the main entry will be from standing splits, dynamic options from crouching and kneeling will also be introduced. 


Class #2: Switch On!

Saturday, June 18, 2022,  11:30 am - 1 pm

This class will focus on entering a handstand from downward-facing dog, often taught in vinyasa classes as a "hop switch" option.


Class #3: Tuck Up!

Saturday, June 25, 2022,  11:30 am - 1 pm

This class will focus on hopping into a tuck handstand, from both downward-facing dog and malasana or yogi squat. Students will also be introduced to straddle handstand options and drills to build strength for press handstands.
