RENOVATIONS
Barefoot Studio is excited to announce its upcoming building renovations! A true Happy 30th Anniversary to Barefoot!
Last year, our studio gained a fantastic new building owner & landlord management team. They are investing significantly in Barefoot's future with a remodel including a new roof, HVAC systems, new flooring, renovated restrooms and lobby, some new walls / some old walls removed, replaced / updated ceilings throughout, and more!! Truly the TLC that Barefoot Studio has needed since moving into this location.
A commitment I made when I purchased Barefoot in 2009 was to keep yoga as accessible to everyone as I could. I’m proud to say for the last 16 years, Barefoot Studio has been the best value for yoga classes in Little Rock!
While we are excited about the repairs and transformation, it comes with a necessary increase in our rent. We want to assure you that even with our upcoming price adjustment on all packages - starting once renovations are complete - Barefoot Studio will still be the best value for yoga classes in Little Rock. Our new landlords understand Barefoot's long-standing presence in the Riverdale community and have gone above and beyond to make this new arrangement work for us.
RENOVATIONS will begin August 25 and could last 30-60 days. The renovations will be done in 2 phases. The first phase will renovate the big yoga room, lobby, and bathrooms. The second phase will renovate the small yoga room. Because of the phased approach we are going to be able to host classes the entire time we are under renovations. While phase 1 is happening the majority of our regular classes will be held in our small studio room, with the exception of Saturday Stretch & Thursday Slow Flow (Loca Luna Party Room next door).
REQUIRED Pre-Registration: Signing up for class will be required as there is a max occupancy in this room. Mats in Hot classes will be in very close quarters. If you cannot make it to class, PLEASE Cancel so the next person on the Waitlist can join in. If you do not show or are not there by class start time, your space will be given to the next person.
RESTROOMS: We will NOT have access to Barefoot restrooms during phase 1 of renovations. Depending on Loca Luna construction, we might have access to theirs. There will be a porta potty on site.
ENTRANCE: during renovations, we will enter & exit from the small studio only. We will NOT have access to the lobby. Please minimize items that are brought to the studio.
Please bring a mat with you as we will only have a few on hand to borrow.

3515 Old Cantrell Road History
This incomplete timeline traces the history of the building at 3515 Cantrell Road (later Old Cantrell Road) in Little Rock, Arkansas, from the 1950s through 2005, based on historical advertisements and newspapers.
1950s - 1960s: Food Palace Bakery & The Road Change
-
1950: Fire maps from this year confirm a building with an almost exact footprint to the current one existed at 3515 Cantrell Road.
-
1959: The first known advertisement that I can find for a business in this location is a help-wanted ad for Mr. Hayes, a bakery looking for a doughnut machine operator.
-
1960: The business appears to have rebranded as Food Palace Bakery, with a help-wanted ad seeking a bakery saleslady.
-
1962 - 1966: Advertisements for Food Palace Bakery consistently list the 3515 location as one of their twelve stores. The ads highlight various products, including eggs for 39 cents a dozen and peach pies for 69 cents. The final advertisement found for the bakery is a help-wanted ad in 1966.
Sometime during this period, Cantrell Road was rerouted, and this section was renamed "Old Cantrell Road."
1968 - 1972: Jack Witts Archery Center
-
January 1968: An advertisement in the Arkansas Democrat lists the building for lease.
-
Late 1968 - 1972: Jack Witts Archery Center occupied the space, offering an archery store and range. Interestingly, Jack Witt had a connection to Ben Pearson, a renowned bow-maker from Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
-
Note: My paternal grandmother worked for Ben Pearson's Bow Factory in Pine Bluff for over a decade! - Tristan
1973 - 1987: Collins & Co. Realtors
-
1973 - 1987: Collins & Co. Realtors operated out of the building. Real estate advertisements from the Arkansas Gazette during this period list the company at this address as the property seller.
1988 - 2005: Dancers' Studio & Consignment Shop
-
1988: Antonio Mesa's Dancers Studio, which announced its grand opening at 3515 Old Cantrell Road.
-
1989: Hidden Treasures, a consignment shop, also held its grand opening. It figure that this is when the small studio space was added. Antonio Mesa's Dancers Studio continued to advertise from this location until at least 1991.
-
2005 Antonio Mesa's Dancers Studio listed at 3515 Old Cantrell Road is mentioned in an Article in the Demo-Zette.
Barefoot Studio moved into the space sometime in 2005.
While local lore suggests it was once a honky-tonk bar, no records have been found to substantiate this.
